Seafields luxury waterfront retreat is committed to an eco-friendly environment without compromising our guests’ enjoyment or comfort.
We understand that all businesses create an environmental and social impact through their activities, Seafields is no exception. We try to actively reduce any adverse effects by buying sensibly, using resources efficiently, disposing of waste responsibly and providing an environmentally and socially responsible experience to our guests.
Our sustainable environmental practices include the following:
- We offer a towel and linen change agreement which ensures that you are helping the environment by reducing energy and water use.
- We buy local produce where possible to reduce transport emissions.
- We regularly upgrade appliances to energy-efficient models.
- Where practical low-energy light bulbs are installed
- Motion and light sensitive sensors are installed on exterior lighting.
- We recycle rubbish.
- We compost vegetable waste.
- We reduce packaging to a minimum by not using single-packaged portions, using dispensers for high-quality toiletries.
- We offer facilities to get news online sooner than daily newspapers.
- We draw our water from our own deep water well.
- We recycle our water for reuse on the garden by biocycle filtration.
- Our toilets are dual-flush.
- We use biodegradable and non-tonic cleaning products.
Where possible we source our products from local or Fair Trade producers.- We ensure that all printed material and products are sustainably sourced where possible.
- We grow fruit, vegetables and herbs at Seafields.
- We have a program in place to plant trees and shrubs which are native to this area in order to encourage bird life.
- We buy locally produced quality art and crafts where possible.
- We offer employment to local residents first.
